Hawaii, We made it

WHAT A GREAT TRIP. Mark and I had a wonderful time with Amanda in Hawaii. Let me repeat....HAWAII. It really is such a beautiful place.

Amanda was a great tour guide and she drove us all over that island. We saw lots of the usual tourist things like Pearl Harbor, the Chinese Market in Honolulu and Waikiki. But, for me by far the most exciting thing was seeing the giant sea turtles. We arrived at turtle beach and the turtles were just arriving. We got to see them swim, but they never made it to shore. So, we continued on with our day. We ate fresh shrimp and had shaved ice and walked the shops in Waikiki. We decided to check out the beach on the way home an there they were. Several of the turtles had made it to the beach. They put a rope around them so that people will not touch them. It really was a highlight of our trip.

So, after several days of sightseeing we were exhausted. So, we took a break from the sightseeing and Mark and Amanda went to Home Depot to buy materials for a gate. Amanda has a fenced in yard, but no gate at the car port, so Kai had to be tied up. Well, Mark and Amanda got busy and Kai is now a very happy girl. She can run in the yard and she loves it.

Mark was only able to stay for nine days. After he departed, Amanda and I got busy on her office. She wanted to re-organize it and we did. We went to the PX and bought everything to get her office in order....shelves, baskets, file cabinet, file folders etc. It looked great and she is vey happy with it.

During our down time we took Kai for walks every morning and evening. Amanda is very lucky to live about a 5 minute walk to the beach and you can take the dogs early in the morning and evenings. Amanda wanted to try and get Kai swimming. At first Kai did not really like the waves coming at her. Amanda got in the water and pulled her in on her leash. Within a few days she was loving it. By the time I left she was running through the waves and chasing the birds up and down the beach. Pure joy on her face and Amanda's!
